Quebec’s Lion Electric partners with Geotab to optimize EV fleet operations with new software

Quebec’s Lion Electric has announced a new partnership with Geotab to develop LionBeat Advanced EV Telematics aimed at optimizing EV fleet operations.

The new software, jointly developed by the two companies specifically for EVs, will use real-time data to help fleet operators improve productivity, safety, and costs.

“In developing LionBeat, we have created a unique purpose-built telematics solution specific to electric vehicles, and we saw Geotab as the ideal partner for this technology. Not only is their expertise in the space second to none, but they also understand that EVs are the future and that collaboration with a segment leader such as Lion is key to leveraging critical data from electrified platforms – ultimately leading to cost savings for operators and increased efficiency,” said Marc Bedard, CEO and Founder of Lion Electric.

Known as LionBeat, the system is built on top of Geotab’s open platform, and will be installed on every Lion Electric bus and truck, making them instantly telematics-compatible.

LionBeat will also be able to integrate with an operators existing fleet management software and can provide data on:

  • Electric vehicle performance management
  • Charge prioritization
  • Routing and dispatch
  • Fleet management
  • Driver management and training
  • Maintenance and diagnostics
  • Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS)

The new partnership comes on the heels of Lion Electric receiving $100 million earlier this week from the Government of Canada to build an electric vehicle (EV) battery factory to Quebec.
