If everything goes well at Wednesday night’s Planning Commission meeting, Santa Monica could soon be home to the world’s largest V3 Tesla Supercharger station.
UPDATE: The Planning Commission approved Tesla’s conditional use permit in a 5-2 vote after 3 hours of discussion and questions.

Located at 1401 Santa Monica Boulevard, the massive Supercharger station would feature 62 stalls, 6 more than the recently completed Firebaugh Supercharger.
According to site plans posted to the Planning Commission website, the site consists of two lots split by an alley down the middle. It would also feature 3 solar arrays, 1 Megapack battery unit, and 1 restroom building.
Only the west lot will feature the solar canopies along with 36 Supercharger stalls. The east lot will house the remaining 26 V3 stalls.
The meeting will be held on March 3, 2021 at 5:30pm at which time a decision will be made on the site’s conditional use permit. A staff report recommends the approval of the project.
If approved, construction is expected to start in summer 2021.
