Customers in Europe are seeing some large price increases across Tesla’s entire lineup of vehicles, with the biggest increase coming to the flagship Model S and Model X.
Model S and X Price Increases
The biggest price jump was first reported in Germany, where the Model S increased by €5,000 ($7,700 CAD) to €81,990 ($126,970 CAD).
Customers in Austria also reported a €5,000 price increase for both vehicles, jumping from €78,990 to €83,990. Similar price increases have also been reported in France and Belgium.
Model 3 Price Increase
The Model 3 was not immune to the price increases, although it so far appears to be limited to fewer countries, and for a much lesser amount.
In Italy, the price jumped by €1,000 ($1,547 CAD) across all three variants of the Model 3. In Germany, the price increased by half that much, €500 ($773 CAD).
The price increase in Germany is somewhat offset by an increase in the grant available for the made-in-China Standard Range Plus (SR+) Model 3. Previously customers received a €2,000 ($3,095 CAD) reduction, which has now been increased to €3,000 ($4,640 CAD).
It is unknown at this time why Tesla increased the prices of all its vehicles in Europe. Owners in the region are speculating it could mean a potential refresh of the Model S and X are coming soon, something that is overdue for Tesla’s oldest production vehicles.
We also recently learned that Tesla has begun exporting Standard Range Plus (SR+) Model 3’s from China to customers in Europe. These Model 3’s come equipped with the new LFP batteries, which are only included in vehicles built out of Giga Shanghai.
This change follows another price increase less than a month ago for the Model 3 where prices jumped by several thousand euros.
