Tesla opens new Semi Megacharger in California

Tesla has expanded its Tesla Semi charging network with the opening of its first true public Megacharger station.

Tesla Charging announced that a new Megacharger station is now online in Bloomington, California. Located at 18434 Valley Blvd, the site features six Megacharger stalls capable of delivering up to 1.2 megawatts (1,200 kW) of charging power.

The Bloomington station is located just down the street from what was technically the first public Megacharger. However, that earlier site no longer appears on Tesla’s charging map. It featured just two stalls and was limited to 750 kW charging using Tesla’s older MC1 connector.

By comparison, the new Bloomington location is a full-scale public Megacharger site equipped with Tesla’s latest 1.2 MW hardware, making it capable of supporting the redesigned Tesla Semi with MC2 as high-volume production ramps up.

The Bloomington station joins Tesla’s other private Megacharger locations in California, Texas, Nevada. The company has big plans for its Semi charging network with a planned network of at least 64 Megacharger sites across the U.S., including a possible extension into Canada.
