Tesla has just received a massive dual safety win in the auto industry. The Model 3 and Model Y have both been crowned Best in Class by Euro NCAP and ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) for 2025, putting Tesla at the top of safety rankings across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Both Euro NCAP and ANCAP awarded the Model 3 the title of safest Medium Car, while the Model Y claimed safest Medium SUV. The Model Y also earned the distinction of recording the highest overall weighted safety score of any vehicle tested in 2025.

Under Euro NCAP’s scoring, the Model Y delivered one of the strongest safety profiles ever recorded. It achieved 91 percent for adult occupant protection, 95 percent for child occupant protection, 86 percent for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists, and 92 percent for safety assist technology.
The Model 3 was almost as strong, scoring 90 percent for adult occupant protection, 95 percent for child safety, 89 percent for vulnerable road users, and 88 percent for safety assist. Those numbers placed it ahead of every other medium-size car tested this year.

These awards are based on thousands of data points from crash tests, pedestrian impact testing, emergency braking trials, lane-keeping performance, and driver monitoring effectiveness.
Both Euro NCAP and ANCAP test vehicles across four categories — adult protection, child protection, vulnerable road users, and active safety systems — with heavy weighting placed on crash avoidance and driver monitoring. A car can no longer win simply by being structurally strong. It must also actively prevent crashes in real-world driving.
ANCAP confirmed that the Model Y did not just win its category, but also posted the highest overall weighted safety score of any vehicle assessed in 2025, across all segments. That means it outperformed luxury SUVs, pickup trucks, and large sedans when all four safety categories were combined into a single ranking.
