Tesla Introduces New Model Y Standard Long Range Trim in Europe

Tesla has rolled out a new Model Y variant in Europe that could become one of the most important trims in its lineup. The new Model Y Standard Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) combines a larger battery pack with a lower price point, giving buyers access to long-distance capability without paying for features they may not want.

The configuration is already appearing in Tesla’s European configurators, with deliveries listed as starting in the coming weeks and some markets showing February 2026 as the first delivery window.

Tesla confirmed the launch through its regional account, posting, “Model Y Standard Long Range RWD now available in Europe.” Along with the announcement, Tesla highlighted that the new version delivers up to 657 km of WLTP range while consuming just 12.7 kWh per 100 km, making it the most efficient Model Y ever sold in Europe.

The Model Y Standard Long Range sits between the existing Standard and Premium trims. In many European countries it costs between as much as 10% less than the Model Y Premium Long Range RWD, yet it offers nearly identical driving range.

In Germany, for example, the new trim is priced at €44,990 compared to €49,990 for the Premium Long Range RWD, while still delivering the same 657 km WLTP range, or roughly 350 miles. Acceleration is slightly slower, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds, but that tradeoff allows Tesla to keep the price lower while retaining the larger battery pack.

Despite the reduction in features that come with the Standard trim, Tesla is still positioning the Standard Long Range as a practical and highly usable family vehicle. Cargo capacity remains a generous 2,118 litres, making it just as versatile for road trips, outdoor gear, or family hauling as any other Model Y. What changes is not the utility of the vehicle, but the level of polish and premium feel inside the cabin.

With this launch, Tesla’s Model Y lineup in Europe now includes five distinct trims:

  • Model Y Standard
  • Model Y Standard Long Range
  • Model Y Premium Long Range RWD
  • Model Y Premium Long Range AWD
  • Model Y Performance

That expanded range gives Tesla more flexibility than ever to compete with both budget-focused EVs and premium rivals, all while keeping production streamlined around a single platform.

Despite the new trim launching in Europe, it has not yet been added to the Canadian lineup, which also received the Model Y Standard on Thursday night. This is notable given that both variants are built at Giga Berlin. That said, based on Tesla’s past rollout patterns, it would not be surprising to see the Standard Long Range arrive in Canada later this year.
