Polestar announced today that Gemini—Google’s next gen AI voice assistant—will be coming to every Polestar model through an upcoming over-the-air (OTA) software update.
Powered by generative AI, Gemini builds on the existing Google Assistant available in Polestar vehicles, but takes things several steps further. It can handle follow-up questions, deeper conversations, and what Google calls Gemini Live—a mode activated by saying “Hey Google, let’s talk” that allows drivers to speak freely as if they were talking to a real assistant.
Polestar will show off an early preview later this week at Slush 2025, one of Europe’s largest tech events, where Gemini will be available to demo inside the Polestar 5. The demo, taking place November 19–20 in Helsinki, will be the first public look at how the system behaves inside a production vehicle.
Sid Odedra, Polestar’s Head of UI/UX, says the shift marks a major evolution in the brand’s in-car tech – Google Gemini Is Coming to All Polestar Cars Starting in 2026“Our collaboration with Google is a great example of how we continue to evolve the digital experience in our cars. Gemini brings the next generation of AI voice interaction into the car, and we’re excited to give a first look at how it will enhance the driving experience.”
Polestar says Gemini will begin rolling out to owners in 2026, starting with US English before expanding to additional languages. With more EV makers betting on AI-driven interiors, Polestar’s decision to go all-in on Gemini signals that voice-first, conversational interfaces are about to become the new norm in connected cars.
