A new study by Universum has ranked two of Elon Musk’s companies as the most attractive employers for university graduates.
The online survey of over 52,000 students from 323 universities across the U.S. was conducted between October 2019 and April 2020, and focussed five main areas of study:
- Business/Commerce
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Human/Liberal Arts/Education
- Natural Sciences
Universum, an employer branding specialist, analyzed the responses, which asked the respondents what they consider most important in an employer, and then ranked the top 100 in each category.
Both Tesla and SpaceX cracked the top 10 in the areas of Business/Commerce and Computer Science, but Tesla ranked first for Engineering, with SpaceX coming in second.
Tesla was the only automaker to make the top 10, and was joined by other companies like Lockheed Martin, Google, Boeing, Nasa, and Amazon.
The results of the study confirm what many already know, and show why Tesla and SpaceX are leaders in their respective industries.
A large part of what draws university graduates to Tesla and SpaceX is the man at the top, Elon Musk. Both of Musk’s companies are seen as incredibly attractive workplaces that are both challenging and rewarding, and push the boundaries of what is possible.
The study also showed that the third highest career goal among students was to find a career that has an “inspiring purpose”. With no other automaker making the top-10 list, it’s clear to see that Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy is one that resonates with the youth of today.
