Toyota has officially launched its updated 2026 bZ all-electric SUV in Canada, marking a major refresh for the automaker’s first battery-electric model. Formerly known as the bZ4X, the renamed Toyota bZ brings improved range, more power, faster charging, and a modernized design — all starting at C$45,990.
Three Trims, More Range and Power
The 2026 Toyota bZ lineup includes three configurations:
- bZ XLE FWD – $45,990
- bZ XLE AWD – $53,390
- bZ Limited AWD – $61,690
All-wheel-drive models now feature a 77-kWh lithium-ion battery, boosting range by up to 25% over the previous generation. Toyota estimates up to 468 km of driving range for the XLE AWD and 436 km for the Limited AWD. The front-wheel-drive version uses a 57.7-kWh pack, delivering up to 380 km per charge.
Power output has also seen a dramatic jump — AWD variants now generate 338 horsepower, about 50% more than before, allowing acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds.
Faster Charging and Tesla Supercharger Access
For 2026, Toyota has integrated the North American Charging System (NACS) port across all trims, giving Canadian owners access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. The new model can DC fast-charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes under ideal conditions. Toyota also upgraded the onboard AC charger from 7 kW to 11 kW, cutting home and public Level 2 charging times significantly.
A battery pre-conditioning and thermal management system ensures better performance and faster charging in cold weather — a valuable feature for Canadian climates and what should prove to be a huge improvement from the previous generation.
Refreshed Styling and Tech-Filled Interior
Visually, the 2026 bZ receives a redesigned front fascia with slimmer LED lighting and optional colour-matched fenders. The rear maintains a wide, planted stance, while aerodynamic refinements help improve efficiency.
Inside, Toyota has enhanced comfort and technology. The SUV features a larger 14-inch touchscreen with Toyota Multimedia, an updated centre console, and dual wireless phone charging docks. All models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, the automaker’s latest suite of active-safety and driver-assist technologies.
Higher trims add premium amenities such as a panoramic glass roof, JBL premium audio, and ventilated Softex seats.
The 2026 Toyota bZ is now on sale at Toyota Dealers across Canada.
