Tesla has started construction on a new Supercharger station on Vancouver Island in Tofino, British Columbia. This will be the sixth Supercharger on the island, but the first one on the west coast of the island.
Since September last year Tesla has indicated through their Supercharger map that they were working to bring a station to Tofino, a picturesque coastal town known for its stunning beaches, rugged landscapes, and world-class surfing. Tesla owners have been calling for a Supercharger in Tofino for years as there is limited charging infrastructure when travelling to this remote part of the island.
While Tesla still lists a Tofino Supercharger as ‘in development,’ it is actually now under construction. A photo shared anonymously on the Tesla Owners Club Vancouver Island Facebook page shows 8 V4 Supercharger posts waiting to be installed.
According to the poster, the site, located behind the CO-OP food store at the corner of First St. and Campbell St. in downtown Tofino, will actually feature 12 stalls. Based on the photo, we believe the map below indicates the location of the Supercharger station.

Unfortunately this is quite a small parking lot that is typically full, especially in the summertime, so it would not be surprising to see the stalls frequently occupied by internal combustion engine (ICE) cars.
While this is the first Supercharger on west coast of the island, there will be a second station added in the near future. Ucluelet, just south of Tofino, was voted as a winning location in the Q4 2024 Supercharger voting round.
Tesla currently has five other Superchargers on Vancouver Island in Victoria, Sidney, Nanaimo (2), and Port Alberni. Tesla also says they are working to bring a third Supercharger to Nanaimo. Unfortunately one of the Nanaimo Superchargers was set on fire last weekend, and is currently closed while repairs take place.
