For the first time, the Ford Mustang’s best-selling variant is the Mustang Mach-E.
According to the final Ford sales numbers for 2024, the Mustang Mach-E sold 51,745 units. While its gas-powered variants, the Mustang coupes and convertibles sold 44,003, a drop of 9.5% in year-over-year sales.
Earlier this year, this did not look possible, and many Mustang purists hoped it would never happen. As always, the Mustang gas variants were outselling and pacing the Mustang Mach-E through the first three quarters. However, between October and December 2024, the Mach-E doubled standard Mustang sales, moving an impressive 16,119 total units in the last quarter.
Year-over-year, Mach-E sales increased 27%, providing a solid base for Ford’s premier EV car moving into 2025. In fact, it was Ford’s best-selling EV, beating out the Ford F-150 Lightning and e-Transit.
In terms of overall numbers, Ford had a strong end to 2024, mainly due to a massive increase in total sales from its EV and hybrid lineups. Hybrid sales saw a 40% increase year-over-year, and EVs saw a 34.8% increase. Overall, Ford sales were up 3.1% across the board.
At least to say, Ford is in a strong position moving into 2025, and if they can keep electrifying their line-up, the future is strong for the blue oval.
