Tesla’s 2025 Holiday Update usually arrives with plenty of fanfare — Santa Mode enhancements, entertainment extras, and flashy UI upgrades— but some of its most useful improvements don’t get a mention in the release notes. This year is no different.
After the update started rolling out yesterday, owners have spotted a brand-new Dashcam Storage Viewer tucked away in the Safety menu, giving drivers a clear breakdown of how much space is available for Dashcam and Sentry Mode footage.
The interface not only displays total capacity and used storage but also categorizes data into categories making it much easier to manage recordings.
- Saved – clips saved manually or automatically by pressing the Dashcam button or honking the horn
- Sentry – clips saved when Sentry Mode is turned on
- Recent – clip saved from your most recent drive, typically up to 1 hour
- Other – likely a catch-all for supporting files that aren’t actual video clips
Before this change, the only way to check remaining space was to remove the USB drive or SSD and plug it into another device — a hassle for anyone who uses Sentry Mode or Dashcam frequently.
What’s next?
As more owners install the update, additional hidden features may continue to surface. Tesla frequently ships improvements that show up later through user discovery rather than official release notes.
We’ll let you know if more undocumented features are discovered in this year’s Holiday Update. In the meantime, you can read the full release notes here.
