Tesla’s 2025 Spring Update brings a highly anticipated upgrade to Sentry Mode and Dashcam – B-pillar recordings. However not every vehicle will receive the new feature, as only those equipped with Tesla’s latest Hardware 4 (HW4) will gain access to the added camera views.
The update, version 2025.14 and later, introduces the ability to record from the B-pillar cameras. These are the two cameras mounted between the front and rear doors on either side of the vehicle, as seen in the image above. This provides an improved field of view and removes a critical blind spot.
This upgrade was combined with an upgraded Dashcam Viewer that allows the user to view from all six camera feeds, instead of the previous four-camera view.

However, the feature is not rolling out universally, and at least for now, is not being included in Tesla’s latest vehicle, the Cybertruck.
According to Not A Tesla App, the ability to record from the B-pillar camera and the updated Dashcam Viewer is only going out to HW4 vehicles, which also have the newer AMD Ryzen infotainment processor. That includes newer Model S, Model X, and newer Model Y and Model 3 builds from mid-2023 onward.
Unfortunately, owners of vehicles with Hardware 3 (HW3), even those equipped with the AMD Ryzen are not receiving the new features. This is presumably because the older hardware lacks the processing power to handle two additional video streams during Sentry Mode or Dashcam operation.
To know which Autopilot computer you have, go to the software tab inside your vehicle. Then tap on ‘Additional Vehicle Information’ to see which infotainment processor you have.

Adding to the confusion, the Cybertruck, Tesla’s newest vehicle is also missing the feature despite being equipped with both HW4 and Ryzen. Tesla has not explained the reason, though it may be related to architectural differences in the Cybertruck’s version of Sentry Mode after it received an efficiency update in October last year.
While it is disappointing to not receive the additional video streams for Sentry Mode and Dashcam in the Spring Update, hopefully Tesla comes up with a way to optimize the feature so that it can work on HW3 vehicles as well, even if just for those with AMD Ryzen, which can be less than two years old. We would not be surprised if this happens as Tesla may have pushed this feature out quickly, given the rise of vandalism on vehicles in recent months.
