Tesla is set to roll out another point release for Full Self-Driving (FSD) v12.5.6 this week, and it will include one improvement that will be a welcomed addition with winter just around the corner.
Tesla’s FSD system has been showing off improved behaviours in many scenarios in recent months, especially with the release of v12 and the switch to end-to-end neural nets. One thing however that has not changed and remained a source of frustration is the pop-up message for bad weather being detected and the accompanying audible chime.
The message, which reads, “Full Self-Driving may be degraded. Bad weather detected,” has been the topic of discussion among FSD testers for well over a year now, with the frustration stemming from the incessant chimes, which over the course of a drive add up very quickly, leading to many disengaging FSD (myself included) to avoid them.
That frustration will soon disappear, according to Ashok Elluswamy, the newly appointed VP of Autopilot/AI Software at Tesla. Responding to a Cybertruck owner in Oregon, where it rains more often than not, Elluswamy said the repeated chimes will be fixed in FSD v12.5.6.2 set to be released this week.
Will be fixed in the upcoming release next week (v12.5.6.2)

While this is great news with winter just around the corner, this also means Tesla is unlikely to release FSD v13. Last month Tesla shared a FSD development roadmap, with several milestones projected for the next few months and into 2025.
The company was able to meet all of the September milestones, but it looks like they will miss their October deadlines, which included the release FSD v13 and Unpark, Park and Reverse in FSD.
