Tesla is taking its new Charging Passport feature one step further. The company has launched a new contest that will reward the most dedicated Supercharger travellers of 2025 with free Supercharging for life, or for as long as they own their Tesla.
The competition, announced on Tuesday, highlights three categories of charging achievement, with the top three owners in each group earning the coveted prize:
• Longest distance between Superchargers visited
• Most energy charged (kWh)
• Most unique Supercharger sites visited
That means nine Tesla owners will be celebrating more than just impressive road-trip stats this year. If you’re someone who racks up stops across multiple provinces or states — or even across borders — this might be your moment.
How To Participate
Tesla isn’t asking owners to register, upload documents, or change any settings. To be eligible, owners simply need to open their Charging Passport in the Tesla app before January 1, 2026. The leaderboard values are locked based on the most recent time the passport is viewed before the new year.
Charging Passport, which we told you about earlier this week, gives owners a personalized recap of their Supercharging activity across 2025. It includes:
• A map of all Superchargers visited
• Estimated kilometers/miles added through charging
• A breakdown of gas savings
• Badges for milestones and visits to iconic charging locations
• Details on longest trip and most visited stations
Owners who frequently hit high-profile chargers like the Tesla Diner or monument-adjacent sites will also earn special Iconic Charger badges. Here are all the badges available to earn.

Winner Selection and Fine Print
Winners will be notified by email and awarded their perk before March 1, 2026. Tesla notes the award applies to the specific vehicle tied to the app account and remains valid for the lifetime of that vehicle’s ownership.
There are a few key rules:
• If two owners tie, the one with the most total energy charged wins
• Once a winner earns a spot in one category, they are removed from consideration in the others
• Owners who already have free Supercharging cannot win again
Tesla also clarifies that it does not track detailed routes or vehicle telemetry for the “Longest Trip” calculation. Instead, the system estimates long-distance travel by detecting Supercharger locations visited within 72 hours and in similar directional travel patterns.
