Tesla Tequila has arrived as Elon Musk follows through on April Fool’s prank

What was originally an April Fool’s prank has turned into reality for Tesla CEO Elon Musk as Teslaquila (Tesla Tequila) is now available for purchase from the automaker.

In 2018 as production of the Model 3 was ramping up there were rumours of Tesla’s imminent bankruptcy everywhere. In response Musk sent out an April Fool’s tweet in which he said Tesla was “completely and totally bankrupt”, including a posed picture of the CEO passed out against a Model 3, surrounded by “Teslaquilla” bottles.

The response to the idea of a Tesla Tequila was so big, the company tried to file for a patent on the name later that same year, but was ultimately unable to. Now it has finally become reality, as Tesla Tequila is now available for purchase.

The Teslaquila comes in a uniquely designed hand-blown glass bottle shaped like a lightning bolt, paying homage to the electricity powering their electric vehicles.

According to the product description, the tequila will be a limited batch priced at $250 per bottle and made from 100% de agave tequial anejoa, aged 15 months in French oak barrels.

Unfortunately it is not available in Canada, and only available in select US states (seen below). If you are able to, you can order it here. The first deliveries are expected before the end of the year.
