Tesla owners hit the roads in record numbers this Thanksgiving, and the Supercharger network was ready for it. According to data released by Tesla on Friday, American Superchargers delivered their strongest performance ever over the long holiday stretch from Wednesday through Sunday, featuring high throughput and remarkably low wait times despite unprecedented usage.
Tesla Charging shared the stats on X, noting that American Supercharger sites averaged an impressive 11.4 charging sessions per stall per day. Even with that high turnout, the network kept queues extremely short, as only 0.76% of sessions experienced a wait, something which many have come to expect in previous years during busy holiday weekend travel.
In total, more than 2 million charging sessions were completed and over 70 GWh of energy delivered throughout the five-day travel period, for an average of 14 GWh per day.

To put that scale into perspective, Tesla has previously noted single-day records like the 12 GWh delivered in North America on November 30, 2024.
This year’s holiday performance shows just how quickly demand has grown, while reliability continues to hold steady. The latest numbers are also a big leap from the network’s earlier days, when Tesla celebrated providing 72 GWh across an entire month in July 2019. Today, Tesla is serving nearly that much electricity nationwide in just a few days.
The results demonstrate not just the strength of Tesla’s charging footprint, but how well the company has scaled infrastructure to support the continually expanding EV fleet. With more than 2 million charging sessions completed in a single holiday window, Supercharging is handling the type of peak demand typically associated with major travel seasons—without the congestion sometimes seen at gas stations, or any major technical issues reducing reliability.
The company frequently cites reliability above 99%, and maintaining sub-1% wait times during one of the busiest travel periods of the year gives EV owners—and future buyers—added confidence that long-distance charging is both convenient and dependable.
