Tesla rolls out FSD v12.5.4.1 with ASS improvements

Tesla has released yet another version of Full Self-Driving (FSD), and this time the update includes some improvements to the recently released Actually Smart Summon (ASS).

It is starting to get a little hard to keep up with all of the recent updates to Full Self-Driving (FSD). Last month Tesla launched ASS with FSD v12.5.3, which came on the 2024.27.20 software update, but at first was limited to vehicles with HW4/AI4 computers. Then last week Tesla deployed 2024.27.10 and 2024.27.25, which included FSD v12.5.2.1 and v12.5.4 respectively, also bringing ASS to HW3/AI3 vehicles.

Confused yet? Tesla wasn’t done there. Earlier this week they released FSD v12.5.5 on the Cybertruck with 2024.32.20, marking the first time FSD has appeared on the electric pickup truck.

Most of the rest of the Tesla fleet is still on the v12.5.4, or even v12.3.6 (sorry). Now the company has deployed another point release to add to the mix.

The update is 2024.32.10, and it includes FSD v12.5.4.1, and while the release notes make no mention of improvements to FSD, there are several for ASS.

  • Improved Public/High-Speed Road Aborts
  • Improved Blocked Camera Aborts
  • Reduced False Positive Collision Mitigation Aborts
  • Refined Dumb Summon
  • Added Custom/Fart Completion Sounds

Even though that is the extent of the new features according to the release notes, this update isn’t just about improvements to ASS. As we mentioned above, some FSD users have been stuck on v12.3.6 for 6 months now. Last week Tesla updated these users to 2024.32, pushing them ahead of the newer FSD branch on 2024.27. But with this release, these owners will hopefully soon have relief and be moved off 12.3.6.

Unfortunately this version does not include the end-to-end neural net for highway driving, which was released on the Cybertruck earlier this week. According to Ashok Elluswamy, Director of Autopilot software at Tesla, we still have to wait a few more weeks for that to arrive for the rest of the fleet.
