Ford Introduces “Power Promise” Program with Free Home Chargers to Boost EV Sales

Ford has launched a new incentive to boost the appeal of its electric vehicle (EV) lineup by offering new buyers a free home charger with installation. This program, known as the “Ford Power Promise,” is designed to reduce the apprehensions many prospective EV buyers face, particularly when it comes to charging convenience and infrastructure.

According to a press release from Ford on Monday, the offer is available from October 1, 2024, to January 2, 2025, and applies to customers who purchase or lease a new Ford Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit. The package includes the Ford Charge Station Pro, a 60 amp Level 2 home charger.

It also comes with free installation, although that part of the offers only covers a “standard” installation. For customers without access to a home charging setup, such as those living in apartments, Ford is offering a US$2,000 cash incentive. We have reached out to Ford Canada to see if a similar cash incentive is being offered north of the border.

In addition to the free home charger, Ford’s new initiative includes several other benefits. The “Ford Power Promise” offers 24/7 support, including text and call services, to assist EV owners with any questions or concerns. Ford’s roadside assistance is also available if a driver runs out of charge.

Ford has also been working to integrate its EVs with the Blue Oval Charging Network, which includes access to third-party charging providers like Tesla’s Superchargers.

While this incentive program may attract more buyers, Ford’s EV division has been struggling financially. The company expects to lose up to US$5.5 billion on its electric business in 2024, and earlier this year, it delayed several new EV models while also cutting production of the F-150 Lightning.
