Tesla was adjusting their prices again on Friday night, this time increasing the price of the Model Y Performance and the Model Y AWD (with 4680 cells) in the US. The price increase comes one week after the automaker increased the price on the Long Range variant, and one month after slashing prices on both.
One week ago Tesla increased the price of the Model Y Long Range by $500, but left the price of the Performance variant the same. On Friday Tesla did the opposite, raising the price of the Performance by $500 and keeping the Long Range price the same.
The Model Y Performance now starts at $58,490, according to the online configurator. The Model Y AWD with 4680 cells, which is still only available for purchase through the existing inventory section, has also seen a $500 increase and now starts at $51,490.
There have been no similar changes to Model Y prices in Canada.
The two successive price increases over the past week follows a major price cut last month to all of their vehicles, which saw the Model Y drop in price by 20% for the Long Range variant and 18% for the Performance variant.
These price drops, along with changes to the requirements for the new federal $7,500 tax credit means all variants of the Model Y are now eligible. This could change in March when the government is expected to announce new requirements based on battery sourcing.
