Tesla has unveiled its 2025 Spring Update, and it continues the company’s trend of rolling out substantial improvements through free over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Many of the new features have been asked for by the owner community for some time, but unfortunately many of them will be only be available on newer vehicles.
Here’s a full breakdown of what owners can expect in the coming weeks. There is also the possibility of a few surprises once the update actually starts rolling out, which is expected in the coming days.
Adaptive Headlights
Leading the update is the rollout of Adaptive Headlights for Tesla owners in Canada and the United States. Previously only available in Europe and on the new Model Y, this feature dynamically adjusts the vehicle’s high beams by selectively dimming specific pixels in the matrix LED headlamps. The result is improved nighttime visibility for the driver without blinding oncoming traffic.

The update applies to Teslas equipped with matrix headlights, which Tesla started including in late 2022. Despite being the newest vehicle, the Cybertruck missed out on this feature as it lacks the necessary hardware.

B-Pillar Cameras and Dashcam Viewer Improvements
Tesla is significantly improving Sentry Mode and Dashcam with the introduction of B-pillar camera recordings—capturing views from the side-mounted cameras near the driver and passenger doors, raising the total number of camera views from four to six. This improves visibility and removes a blind spot, especially in cases of vandalism or sideswipes.

To accommodate the added footage, Tesla has redesigned the in-car Dashcam Viewer. The updated layout features a grid view for simultaneous camera playback and offers new controls for jumping between clips and skipping forward or backward in 15-second intervals. While this part of the update is only available on newer Tesla vehicles with AI4 hardware, its impact on security is substantial.
Better Navigation with Flexible Trip Planning
Navigation sees a useful upgrade with three new routing options: “Fastest,” “Best Amenities & Fewer Stops,” and “Avoid Highways.” The last is especially welcome for drivers who prefer scenic routes or want to avoid freeway traffic. Additionally, when viewing a Supercharger location, nearby restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance are now listed—making longer charging stops more productive.

Cybertruck-Specific Enhancements
Tesla included a number of Cybertruck specific features in the 2025 Spring Update.
Comfort Mode on Autopilot: When Autopilot is engaged, the Cybertruck will now automatically switch to Comfort Mode, adjusting ride height, steering, and acceleration for a smoother experience. Lane Departure Avoidance: This new safety feature offers both warnings and steering assistance if the vehicle begins to drift from its lane.

Frunk Height by Location: Similar to trunk height settings on other models, Cybertruck owners can now set and save frunk opening heights based on specific locations. This is Cybertruck-specific as it is the only Tesla with a powered frunk.
Trunk Height Memory for More Models
Tesla is expanding the ability to save trunk opening heights by location, previously exclusive to the new Model Y. The feature is now coming to all Model 3s with power trunks, the 2021+ Model S and X, and newer Model Ys. This is particularly helpful in garages or areas with low ceilings, preventing unnecessary bumps and scratches.

Accessory Power
As we reported earlier this week, a new option called “Keep Accessory Power On” allows owners to keep USB ports, wireless chargers, and 12V sockets powered even after exiting the vehicle—as long as the battery remains above 20%. This eliminates the need to activate Camp Mode just to use a device or power an accessory.
Blind Spot Camera For Model S/X Instrument Cluster
Tesla is enhancing the Blind Spot Camera functionality specifically for the Model S and Model X equipped with the updated instrument cluster (2021 refresh and newer). Previously, the blind spot camera feed would only appear on the central infotainment screen, requiring drivers to glance sideways to view their blind spots.
With this update, Tesla owners can now choose to display the blind spot feed directly in the driver’s instrument panel on the left or right side, depending on which turn signal is activated, offering a more intuitive and safer viewing experience that keeps their eyes closer to the road.

Media and Connectivity Upgrades
- Media searches are now filtered by source, making it easier to find content.
- Apple Music playlists with over 100 songs can now be shuffled. SiriusXM favorites are easier to browse via steering wheel controls.
- Amazon Music Free accounts are now supported (WiFi or Premium Connectivity required).
- YouTube Music’s “Up Next” view now shows the upcoming track.
- Your phone’s hotspot will now reconnect automatically when you begin driving—no more manual intervention needed every time you get back in the car.
Rounding out the update, Tesla has added support for additional keyboard languages via the touchscreen settings.
