After a bit of a dry spell, particularly for British Columbia, Tesla has opened a new Supercharger in Surrey, the sixth station in the city.
The new 20-stall Surrey Supercharger is in the parking lot of the Strawberry Hill Shopping Center (12161 72 Ave), located close to the Cineplex theater. We aren’t exactly sure when construction started, but pictures of the site taken in early September showed much of the work was already completed, and that this site would feature Tesla’s latest V4 Supercharger posts.
However, this site is technically referred to as a “V3.5” Supercharger, even by Tesla, as it delivers the same 250kW peak charging speeds as the V3 units. A key difference, at least until Tesla upgrades the power cabinets in the future, is that it is equipped with longer charging cables to accommodate non-Tesla electric vehicles more easily.
This is the second V4/V3.5 site in BC, and the third in Canada. The first in both BC and Canada opened in August in Langley.
This Surrey Supercharger was first turned on last Thursday, October 10 (h/t: @Mod3My), but Tesla officially announced the opening today through a post on X.

According to the mobile app, it is one of the cheapest Superchargers in North America and costs just $0.20/kWh to plug in. For non-Tesla owners with NACS adapters, it costs $0.25/kWh.
There are currently still a number of Superchargers that are fully built but still waiting to be turned on in communities across greater Vancouver, including in North Vancouver, Richmond, Delta, Whistler, and Abbotsford. Many of these have been completed for close to a year, but Tesla told us these should be opening before the end of the year.
