Tesla Opens Cybertruck Orders in UAE, Configurator Coming Soon Across Middle East

Tesla has officially opened Cybertruck orders in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking the beginning of its Middle Eastern rollout for the all-electric pickup. Reservation holders in the country can now convert their deposits into firm orders.

Tesla also confirmed that a public configurator will launch in the coming weeks for Middle Eastern nations, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and potentially Jordan and Israel as well.

While the announcement was made by of the official Tesla Europe & Middle East account on X, there was no mention of Cybertruck availability in Europe.

Expanding Beyond North America

The Cybertruck’s expansion into the Middle East comes as Tesla gradually introduces its electric pickup to international markets. South Korea became the first country outside North America to receive the futuristic truck, with order books officially opening last month.

Now, the Middle East will follow, providing a new opportunity for Tesla to attract high-income buyers in markets where pickup trucks are often seen as both practical and status-symbol vehicles.

Limited Lineup After RWD Cancellation

The Middle Eastern debut arrives at a time when Tesla has been trimming its Cybertruck lineup. The company recently canceled the entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) version, which had been planned as a more affordable option. With that variant scrapped, Tesla now only offers the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and the high-performance Cyberbeast trims in the U.S.

While Tesla did not give an official explanation for discontinuing the RWD, which came just five months after it first debuted, a lack of sales was likely the leading reason for its demise. While this entry-level Cybertruck did have a lower price, it also lacked several key features that made the Cybertruck what it is, and many buyers opted to spend that extra money to receive those features.

Why The Middle East?

Tesla’s decision to open the Cybertruck to buyers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar is likely driven by a strategy of focusing on premium markets where buyers are less sensitive to price. These Gulf nations not only have a strong appetite for luxury vehicles but also growing support for electrification, with government programs encouraging EV adoption.

The UAE in particular has been investing heavily in charging infrastructure, making it one of the most EV-ready nations in the region. Introducing the Cybertruck here gives Tesla a chance to showcase the vehicle in an environment where its distinctive design could appeal to drivers who use pickups for desert exploration as well as city commuting.

What’s Next

While Tesla has not confirmed exact delivery timelines for Middle Eastern customers, the opening of the configurator suggests shipments could begin in late 2025 or early 2026, similar to South Korea.
