Tesla offers bonus to German customers if their delivery is delayed into 2023

Tesla Model Y and Model 3 reservation holders in Germany who thought they might not get their full government incentive if their delivery is delayed into 2023 can breath a sigh of relief.

In a message sent to all Model Y and Model 3 reservation holders in the country, Tesla confirmed they will still receive their full green incentive, even if their car is delivered in 2023 when the incentive is set to be reduced.

The automaker is making this offer as production may be delayed, and if the vehicle is delivered in 2023, Tesla will pay the difference between the 2022 and 2023 incentives.

For Model Y owners, the message was as follows:

Due to high demand for deliveries this year, if your Model 3 or Model Y delivery is not in 2022 and you meet the conditions to qualify for this offset, we will cover the difference to the Green Bonus in 2022*. To take advantage of this compensation, order your Model 3 or Model Y by December 31, 2022.

While for Model 3 owners, the message stated:

The environmental bonus will decrease in 2023. We want to ensure that you benefit from the high environmental bonus funding with your Model 3 – even if you will not receive your vehicle until 2023 due to the high demand this year. We will also pay for the difference in the environmental bonus amount between 2022 and 2023 if you meet the conditions for compensation. At the moment, you don’t have to do anything else.

According to Tesla’s support page for the ‘environmental bonus,’ the offer applies to any Model 3 or Model Y order completed by December 31, 2022.

This is excellent news for those in Germany and a smart move for Tesla for PR alone.
