Tesla Model Y Performance coming to Canada in Q1 2026

Canadian Tesla fans waiting for the new Model Y Performance finally have a timeline to look forward to, as the new top-of-the-line variant will be heading to Canada soon.

The timeline came from Raj Jegannathan, one of Tesla’s senior engineering leaders, in response to a question on X asking, “When can we get the Model Y Performance in Canada?” Jegannathan’s reply — “Q1.”

While he didn’t provide any further details, we are assuming this means the ability to order, and not the first deliveries, meaning the high-performance variant will appear on Tesla’s Canadian configurator in the first quarter of 2026.

Given shipping times from Giga Berlin, where Tesla will be exporting the vehicle from to avoid the 25% tariffs on U.S. built vehicles, deliveries to Canada will likely begin two to three months later, placing first deliveries in spring 2026.

This extended timeline is because the cars bound for Canada will travel by ship from Germany to Halifax before being distributed across the country — a process that typically adds several weeks to the timeline once ordering opens.

The new Model Y Performance boasts a host of performance and design improvements. Tesla lists a 0–100 km/h time of 3.3 seconds (0–60 mph in 3.3 s), making it one of the quickest compact SUVs on the road. Top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph). Range is 493 km (306 miles) according to the EPA estimate.

Unlike the legacy Model Y Performance, the new version is visually distinct from the rest of the lineup with revised front and rear bumpers, a larger carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels, giving the SUV a more aggressive stance.

Tesla has also added adaptive suspension, tuned specifically for the Performance trim to deliver both tighter handling and greater comfort.

Inside, the cabin gains the same updates introduced with the latest Model Y — including ambient lighting, a rear passenger display, and enhanced sound insulation with new acoustic glass.

Perhaps one of the biggest features is the Model Y Performance supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing it to become a mobile power source.

While Tesla has yet to make a formal announcement, Jegannathan’s brief reply has is our first indication of when Canada will see the Model Y Performance. If production and shipping timelines hold, the first Canadian deliveries could begin by late Q2 2026.
