Tesla has pushed back estimated delivery dates for the Model S and Model X in Europe, with new orders now showing a 4-5 month wait time, instead of a four-week wait for delivery. With the delivery dates now extending into July-August 2025, there is strong speculation that a refresh is now on the horizon.
This shift in delivery timelines, which applies to both the Long Range and Plaid variants of Tesla’s flagship sedan and SUV, closely mirrors Tesla’s past behavior ahead of major product updates. Just last year, the company extended Model 3 delivery times in several markets before officially launching the “Project Highland” refresh. Similarly, the Model Y saw wait times extend five months in Europe before reports confirmed an upcoming refresh under “Project Juniper.”
Now, the Model S and X appear to be following the same trend. In fact, this is exactly what happened in late 2020, just before Tesla announced the last refresh of the two flagship vehicles.
The reason these European delivery wait times give us a good hint at Tesla’s plans for the Model S/X is that only the Fremont factory builds them, and Tesla needs extra time to not only make the necessary changes to the production lines, the company also needs additional time for shipping and logistics to get the cars to Europe. Hopefully the transition is smoother this time, as it took over two years for the last refresh to appear in Europe.
Tesla Model S and X delivery windows in Europe have jumped to 4-5 months (Jul-Aug). Applies to both variants of both models.

The same happened to Model Y delivery windows ahead of the refresh. @larsmoravy hinted last week at a S/X refresh coming before the end of the year. https://t.co/UXT2JEr4Nl pic.twitter.com/FtByjRzwhi
As we mentioned in our post on X yesterday, Tesla’s VP of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, hinted just a week ago that an update for the Model S and Model X could arrive before the end of 2025. While no specifics were provided, a refresh could bring several anticipated upgrades, including:
- Updated interior materials and technology, similar to those seen in the refreshed Model 3 and upcoming Model Y update.
- Enhanced efficiency and range, potentially utilizing Tesla’s latest battery technology.
- The return of the turn signal stalk, like the new Model Y
- Subtle exterior refinements, aligning with Tesla’s ongoing design evolution.
