Tesla Launches Powerwall 3 Sales in Germany & UK

Tesla has unveiled the latest generation of its Powerwall 3 home energy storage system in Germany and the UK. The battery can power homes, saving on bills and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

Powerwall 3 is the latest generation of Tesla’s home batteries. Powerwall 1 was introduced in 2015, and Powerwall 2 in 2017. In total, more than 600,000 of these devices are installed worldwide. The 13.5 kWh Powerwall 3 can now power most homes in Germany and the UK.

By storing excess solar energy, consumers can reduce their dependence on the grid by up to 95 percent on average. Additional savings can be achieved through the time management function. Owners can set the battery to charge from the grid when prices are low and use the stored energy to power their home when electricity prices are high.

For example, in Germany, according to Tesla, on average, owners can save up to €1,981 per year by powering their homes with solar energy combined with Powerwall 3 . This estimation is based on an average customer with an 8 kW solar array and Powerwall 3, taking into account typical PV consumption and production in this climate region (about 8200 kW and 8000 kWh respectively) and actual electricity rates (30 cents per kWh + fixed costs before adding PV+PW). Actual savings vary depending on location and each household’s specific energy needs. Owners in the UK can save £1,450 a year on average when Powerwall 3 is combined with solar.

Powerwall 3 also offers the added benefit of outage protection. It automatically detects outages and becomes the home’s power source if the grid goes down. The battery provides more than double the power of Powerwall 2. In the event of a power outage, the inverter can provide power from 3.68 to 11.04 kW, providing emergency power functionality for various devices.

Powerwall 3 can withstand extreme weather conditions and harsh environmental conditions. The battery can be installed either indoors or outdoors, maintaining normal operation in high humidity and flooding to a depth of 60 cm.
