Tesla experiences LTE Premium Connectivity outage in western Canada

Tesla owners in western Canada are experiencing a Premium Connectivity outage on Tuesday morning, leaving many without access to features such as live traffic data, music streaming, and remote app functions. Unlike previous disruptions, this latest issue does not appear to be linked to a recent software update, pointing to issues with Tesla’s cellular network provider, Telus.

Reports of LTE connectivity issues began surfacing early this morning, with DownDetector data indicating that the first complaints emerged around 5:30 AM to 6:00 AM PT. The outages appeared to affect Tesla owners in the western part of the country, as far as Saskatchewan. Owners in Ontario and further east reported no connectivity issues in response to our post on X.

Given the localized nature of the outage, it appears this was a problem with Tesla’s network provider in Canada, Telus.

As of now, the connectivity problems appear to be slowly improving, with some owners reporting their connection has been restored. However, other owners are still reporting LTE service issues.

This isn’t the first time Premium Connectivity has gone down in Canada, but unlike in past incidents, this outage does not appear to be linked to firmware changes

Tesla’s Premium Connectivity service costs $13.99 per month in Canada before taxes, and provides owner with a data connection inside their car. It builds on the Standard Connectivity package, which is included with all Tesla vehicles at no extra cost, giving owners access to features like live traffic visualization, which shows real-time traffic conditions on the navigation map, and satellite-view maps for a more detailed, aerial perspective of your surroundings.

It also includes entertainment options such as music streaming through services like Spotify, video streaming through Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, or others. Additionally, it enables security features like live camera access for Sentry Mode via the Tesla app, allowing you to monitor your vehicle remotely in real time.
