Tesla China Registrations Accelerate in November

Registrations of Tesla vehicles in China rose 28% last week compared to the week before. These figures represent the third full week and reflect deliveries of cars including the updated Model 3, which began delivering in that period. During the week of November 13-19, there were 16,300 insurance registrations for Tesla vehicles. That is up 28 percent from the previous week’s 12,700 and up 36 percent from the same period last year, according to CnEVPost.

Insurance registrations in China for major electric vehicle (EV) makers overall rose last week. During the week from November 13 to 19, Li Auto’s weekly sales totaled 10,000 units, according to the manufacturer’s statement. The company did not provide details of what these numbers reflect, but they were identical to those reported a week earlier. At this point, it remains unclear whether they are trustworthy.

Meanwhile, from November 13 to 19, Nio reported 3,700 insurance registrations. At the moment, the company is reorganizing, and reducing staff but striving to increase the productivity of all remaining employees. According to CEO William Li, the layoffs will affect about 10% of the total workforce.

Xpeng vehicles had 4,200 insurance registrations in China last week. This is up 7.69 percent from the previous week’s 3,900. The company forecast fourth-quarter deliveries of 59,500 to 63,500 units in its third-quarter earnings report announced Nov. 15.
