Tesla has set a new monthly sales record in July 2025 in South Korea. According to data from the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA), Tesla delivered 7,357 vehicles last month, solidifying its position as the country’s top-selling imported car brand.
The Tesla Model Y led the charge once again, earning the title of South Korea’s best-selling imported vehicle for the third straight month. Its sibling, the Model 3, ranked second among imported EVs, further highlighting Tesla’s dominance. Overall, 72% of all imported EV registrations in July were Teslas.
The company acknowledged its South Korean customers in a post on X, “We continue to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy — and we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you to all Tesla owners for being part of our mission and making the future a reality.”
This strong performance follows a record-breaking June, when Tesla topped South Korea’s imported car sales leaderboard for the first time since entering the market. In June, Tesla sold 6,570 vehicles, surpassing the likes of Mercedes-Benz (6,415) and BMW (6,405). The Model Y alone accounted for 6,237 of those sales — an extraordinary 94.9% share of Tesla’s total that month — outpacing the next best-selling import, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, by more than two and a half times.
The launch of the new Model Y has been a game-changer for Tesla in South Korea, helping Tesla secure a 20% share of the country’s entire imported car market, while also driving the growth of EV adoption. In May, electric vehicles represented 33.8% of all imported car sales, up 62.2% year-over-year, with Tesla leading that charge.
Tesla’s success in South Korea stands in contrast to its current performance in Europe. Markets such as Germany, Sweden, and Spain have reported significant declines in Tesla registrations due to rising local competition, reduced EV incentives, and consumer backlash over CEO Elon Musk’s political activities.
With the Model Y maintaining its lead for three consecutive months and the Model 3 also performing strongly, Tesla is poised to continue its upward trajectory in South Korea’s growing EV sector.
