Tesla has updated their standalone Carbon Ceramic Brake Kit for the Model S Plaid from their online shop to an all-new Track Package that includes a set of new wheels and tires. With the change Tesla has also finally confirmed this upgrade will unlock the 200mph (322km/h) top speed.
Since late 2021 Tesla has been advertising a $27,500 CAD/$20,000 USD Carbon Ceramic Brake Kit in their online shop. Even though it has been listed for a year and a half, the product was still unavailable to order with the website most recently showing it would be released in “early 2023.” It appears as though during the year and half the upgrade was under development, Tesla has changed their mind on what exactly they want to offer and have added a new ‘Model S Plaid Track Package.’
According to the product description the package includes all of the same brake components that were previously listed, including carbon-silicon carbide rotors, one-piece forged calipers with high-performance pads, track-ready brake fluid and more. But Tesla has now also added a staggered 20″ Zero-G wheel package, which includes Goodyear Supercar 3R tires (20X10J, 285/35R20 in the front and 20X11J, 305/30R20 in the rear).
While the previous Carbon Ceramic Brake Kit product listing made no mention of the top speed, the listing for the Track Package finally confirms the 200mph (322km/h) top speed will be unlocked.
“Designed for the ultimate track experience, the Model S Plaid Track Package delivers high-speed stability, maximum cornering force and repeatable stopping power during high-performance driving while unlocking a top speed of 322 km/h.”
Even though the package includes wheels and tires and brakes, it is actually priced cheaper than the previous brake kit. The product listing shows a price range of $20,550 to $27,935 in Canada, and $15,000 to $20,000 in the US. You can still purchase the brakes and the wheels ($8,220 CAD/$6,000 USD) separately, so we assume the lower end of the range is if you purchase only the brakes, and the higher price is if you purchase the wheels and brakes together.
You can check out the Track Package here, or the Zero-G Wheel and Tire Packager here. Both are expected to ship in June.
