Starlink Offers 44% Discount on Roam Plans for New Subscribers in Canada

Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, is giving Canadians a big reason to sign up. The company has introduced a limited-time promotion on its Roam plan, slashing the monthly cost from $70 to just $39.

That’s a 44% discount, but it is only available to new customers and is only valid for the first six months.

The company has started sending emails out to customers about the deal on Tuesday.

Starlink Roam is designed for mobility, making it ideal for camping trips, RV life, boating excursions, and off-grid adventures across Canada. Unlike fixed home service, the Roam package allows users to take their satellite dish and equipment anywhere within the coverage area, providing high-speed internet in places where cellular service often fails.

Subscribers can expect low-latency, high-speed connections that make it possible to stream, work remotely, video call, or navigate without the frustration of dead zones. With this discount, newcomers can test the service at a much lower cost before committing to the regular monthly fee.

The timing of this discount comes shortly after Starlink made a controversial change to how Roam subscriptions work. Previously, customers could pause their Roam service for free, giving them the flexibility to pay only when they needed connectivity. That option has now been removed, with subscribers required to pay the monthly fee continuously, even if they aren’t using the service year-round.

For many seasonal travelers—such as RV owners or boaters—this was seen as a major benefit, and its removal makes the new discount more significant. By lowering the entry price for the first six months, Starlink may be trying to soften the impact of eliminating the free pause feature and encourage new users to try the service despite the added commitment.

Even with the removal of free pausing, Starlink continues to be an ideal solution for travelers who need reliable internet without dead zones. Whether parked in the Rockies, boating in Ontario’s cottage country, or exploring northern BC, users can now access a service that redefines what portable connectivity can look like in Canada.
