SpaceX has expanded its popular “$0 Starlink Kit” promotion to the United States, offering new residential subscribers in select regions a free hardware kit. However, as with the offer in other regions, there is a catch in that customers must commit to a 12-month service agreement.
The promotion, now live on Starlink.com, is designed to boost adoption in parts of the country where Starlink has excess capacity. The offer includes the standard hardware kit with an antenna, Wi-Fi router, mounting base, and necessary cabling — which normally retails for $349. Customers must agree to a one-year commitment to the residential plan, typically priced at US$120 per month.
Where the Deal Is Available
As with the offer in Canada, which has been available since mid-April, the offer in the U.S. is not nationwide. According to a support page on Starlink’s website, the $0 hardware promotion is only available in over two dozen U.S. states where network congestion is currently low.
In contrast, many urban and high-demand areas remain on a waitlist or require a congestion surcharge to begin service. To check eligibility, customers can enter their service address directly on the Starlink website.

Terms and Restrictions
Starlink emphasizes that the free hardware must remain at the original service address throughout the contract. Customers who cancel early, relocate their service, or attempt to resell the equipment may be charged the full cost of the kit. A 30-day trial period is available, during which users can cancel and return the kit for a full refund.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk acknowledged the promotion on social media, stating, “Starlink is trying out a service plan commitment in exchange for $0 down in some markets. We’ll see how it goes.”
