SpaceX and Tesla could soon be neighbours in Texas

Multiple sources have confirmed that the land across from the Texas Gigafactory could be set aside for SpaceX.

The Texas Gigafactory currently sits on about 2,100 acres on the east side of State Highway 130 (SH 130). However, as per filings, Tesla also owns 752 acres on the west side of the road. Those sources have confirmed to the Austin Business Journal that SpaceX may occupy that space soon enough.

SpaceX, who created a job posting back in March to oversee a manufacturing facility’s construction, has not been quiet about wanting to move to Texas. The company has wanted to relocate some operations to the Lone State state but had yet to specify where they would move.

Colorado River Project LLC, a Tesla entity, owns 2500 acres of land in Travis County, including the land off of SH 130. This land sits near the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. It was further confirmed that the entity could expand its land purchase up to 3,500 acres.

Neither Tesla nor Space X commented on the rumours.
