Porsche Taycan continues to outsell 911 in Q1 2022

Porsche customers are continuing to show their affinity for an electric powertrain as global sales of the all-electric Taycan outpaced the iconic 911 sports car in the first quarter of 2022.

According to figures released by the German automaker, a total of 9,470 Taycans were delivered to new customers around the world in the first three months of the year.

That was enough to beat the 911, which sold 9,327 units in the first quarter.

Only 1,925 of those were sold in the U.S., a decline from the 2,008 units sold in the first quarter last year.

That decline was also visible in their overall Q1 sales, which were down 5% to 68,426 units. Only Europe saw a positive trend in the first quarter, up 18% overall compared to the same time period last year.

2021 was the first year in which the Taycan outsold the 911. A total of 41,296 Taycans were delivered last year, compared to the 911 which saw 34,428 cars delivered to new homes.
