Polestar O2 roadster concept will enter production in 2026 as the Polestar 6, reservations open now

Polestar has added another car to its lineup of electric vehicles, announcing on Tuesday plans to make the O2 roadster concept a reality as the Polestar 6.

The O2 Roadster concept was revealed earlier this year, featuring a hardtop convertible design with a built-in drone. The autonomous  drone sits behind the rear seats which drivers can deploy the drone while the car moves to capture footage via two different sequences.

The response from customers after the unveiling of the concept led Polestar to turn it into a production vehicle.

“With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down.”

According to the Swedish automaker the Polestar 6 is expected to enter production in 2026. The first 500 will be exclusive, numbered Polestar 6 LA Concept editions, which will feature a number of exclusive options. These include “custom-designed 21″ alloy wheels, the unique Sky exterior colour (other colours available), special bodyside graphics and a distinctive, animal welfare-secured leather interior.”

Exact specifications will be announced closer to the start of production, but the dual-motor Polestar 6 has the following targeted specs:

  • 884 hp (650 kW) and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm)
  • Range – 600km EPA (372 miles)
  • 0-100km/h – 3.2s
  • Top speed – 250km/h (155mph)
  • Power – 650kW
  • 800v architecture

If those specs interest you, you can order one with a $25,000 reservation fee on their website.

The O2 Roadster concept will be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ events later this week.
