Polestar launches referral program in the US, Europe, and South Korea [Update]

Polestar has announced this morning a new referral program in the United States, several European countries, and South Korea, but unfortunately not Canada.

Much like Tesla’s now discontinued referral program for vehicle purchases, existing owners will be able to generate a unique referral code within their Polestar account. This code can then be provided to a potential purchaser who must enter it in their account before placing the order.

There will be referral rewards for both the purchaser and the existing owner.

In Europe and South Korea the new owner will receive charging credits worth €100 (~$135 CAD) to be used with a local charging supplier, while customers in the US will receive a Google bundle including a Google Nest Hub and Nest Mini.

Referral awards for the existing owner will be tier-based and will include a Houdini Power Houdi, charging credits (Europe and South Korea), the Google bundle (North America), and a Polestar design sketch.

“The greatest advocates of EV adoption are our customers. They are the foundation of the Polestar community, becoming brand ambassadors with great enthusiasm. We deeply value their ongoing commitment to the brand and want to reward them in creative ways,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

The referral awards are available in the following European countries – Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Finland, United Kingdom.

We have reached out to Polestar to see if the referral program will be coming to Canada, but have not received a response by the time of publication. We will update this story when we get a response.

UPDATE June 1 8:06am PST: A Polestar spokesperson confirmed with Drive Tesla that the referral program is currently not available in Canada due to “certain provincial regulations pertaining to referral programs.” The company however will be “continuing to look into potentially expanding the new referral program to Canada at a later date.”
