Polestar 3 Gets New RWD Variant as First Deliveries Begin

Polestar has officially started customer deliveries of its flagship Polestar 3 SUV. At the same time, the automaker has expanded the Polestar 3 lineup with the introduction of a new Long Range Single Motor variant.

Polestar celebrated the first deliveries of the Polestar 3 at a special ceremony at their iconic Cube facility. The initial batch of vehicles is being handed over to customers across Europe and North America, with deliveries planned in Germany, Norway, and several US states including California, Illinois, and New York.

In conjunction with the first deliveries, Polestar also announced the launch of the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor, a rear-wheel drive variant aimed at providing an entry-level option for the flagship SUV. The new model offers up to 650 km (404 miles) of range on the WLTP cycle, making it the most efficient Polestar 3 variant yet.

The Long Range Single Motor Polestar 3 utilizes the same 111 kWh battery pack as the Dual Motor versions, boasting a 250 kW peak charging capability that allows for a 30-minute charge from 10% to 80% on DC. The rear-mounted electric motor produces 220 kW (295 hp) and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft) of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

Despite being the entry-level model, the Long Range Single Motor retains many of the luxury and performance features of its dual-motor counterparts. It comes equipped with a passive damper system incorporating Hydraulic Rebound Stops (HRS) and Frequency Selective Damping (FSD), ensuring ride comfort and dynamic driving characteristics.

Customers can further personalize their Polestar 3 with various options, including six exterior colors, five interior themes, and four wheel designs. Notable features include Pilot Pack with LiDAR for advanced driver-assistance functions and the Plus Pack, which adds amenities such as active road noise cancellation, a premium Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and heated features throughout.

Production of the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor will occur in both China and the USA, with deliveries in Europe beginning in early 2025 and Canadian availability slated for later this year.
