Model Y Program Manager Emmanuel Lamacchia Also Departs Tesla

Another high-profile departure has hit Tesla’s vehicle programs. On the same day that Cybertruck Program Manager Siddhant Awasthi announced he was leaving the company, Model Y Program Manager Emmanuel Lamacchia has revealed he too is moving on. Both were with the company for 8 years.

Lamacchia shared the news on LinkedIn, calling his time at Tesla an “incredible journey” that spanned from early work on the Model 3 and Model Y programs to leading the world’s best-selling vehicle through its global relaunch. Before joining Tesla, he spent more than seven years at Rolls-Royce in engineering and program management roles.

During his tenure, Lamacchia was Vehicle Program Manager for the Model Y since 2021, where he was responsible for scope, schedule, and cross-functional execution across hardware, software, and manufacturing, according to his LinkedIn profile. Most recently, he led the new Model Y global launch, which saw Tesla convert four factories—Fremont, Shanghai, Berlin, and Austin—in just two weeks, an industry-first accomplishment.

“Leading the All-New Model Y launch was the highlight,” Lamacchia wrote. “Converting all four factories across three continents in just two weeks—something that had never been done before in the auto industry.”

He also managed the Model Y roadmap, integrating customer-driven upgrades and software updates, while standardizing manufacturing processes and launching in over a dozen international markets. Lamacchia credited Tesla’s culture for shaping his approach to speed, innovation, and collaboration.

“Tesla taught me how to move fast without breaking things and how to scale from prototypes to millions of units,” he said.

His departure comes on the same day that Awasthi, who led the Cybertruck program, also announced he was leaving Tesla after more than eight years. Both were key figures in the company’s recent rollout of new Standard trims for the Model 3 and Model Y, making the timing of their exits especially notable.

While neither disclosed their next moves, both expressed confidence in Tesla’s future and excitement for what’s ahead. “Excited for what’s next,” Lamacchia wrote. “More to share soon.”
