Mercedes Benz is launching its most ambitious electric vehicle project to date. The company will reveal the Mercedes Benz Vision EQXX on January 3, 2022, at CES.
The company did not release all of the details, but we do have some highlights.
First and foremost, the vehicle has a targeted range of over 621 miles on a full charge. For us in Canada, that is 999 km, which would put it miles (or kilometers) ahead of any other EV on the market today.
Secondly, the Vision EQXX is going to be in the compact class of vehicles. So, it will be considerably smaller than the EQS or any of the other Mercedes Benz EV options.
Third, Mercedes Benz COO Markus Schäfer promised that the EQXX would do better than 6 miles per kWh. To meet this, the vehicle will have enhanced aerodynamics.
This is a bit of a surprise, as the EQS currently has the best drag coefficient for any production car, and the EQXX will beat that.
Finally, the vehicle is set to have a 20% increase in terms of the energy density of the battery cells, reports Autoblog.
At least to say, if Mercedes Benz delivers on these ambitious promises, the Vision EQXX could be a real winner for the German-automaker. However, we will have to wait for the full reveal at CES to see what this car will deliver.
