Hydro-Québec’s Electric Circuit has officially opened its 1,000th electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging station.
The milestone charging station is located at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Vaudreuil-Dorion, a key crossroads near Autoroutes 20, 30, and 40. The new station features a range of charging options: three 180-kW chargers capable of delivering up to 250 kilometers of range in just 30 minutes, one 120-kW charger, and one 50-kW charger.
“The installation of our 1,000th fast-charge station is a testament to our commitment to providing a reliable, accessible network for all EV drivers. We aim to continue growing this network, with plans to reach 2,530 fast-charge stations by 2030,” said France Lampron, Head of the Electric Circuit at Hydro-Québec.
Hydro-Québec’s Electric Circuit, which began in 2012, is now the largest public charging network in Quebec, with over 6,300 public charging stations.
The strength of the Electric Circuit is part of the reason that Tesla has not installed as many Supercharger stations in the province, even though Quebec has one of the largest number of Tesla vehicles in the country.
The Electric Circuit plans to expand its network further, announcing in June 2022 plans to install an additional 7,500 Level 2 charging stations in both urban and rural areas by 2026.
