Tesla has already installed two massive Giga Press machines at its factory in Fremont. The machines are so big they couldn’t fit them inside the existing buildings, so they had to be placed outside with structures built around them.
With Tesla’s moves to unibody casting designs, which allows to them produce large sections of the car with just a single piece of cast metal, the automaker is going to need as many as eight of the machines at Giga Berlin.
A new video from Foundry Planet shows the third IDRA Giga Press being assembled piece by piece. Since the machine is so large, it was taken apart afterwards to ship it to its final destination, which is unknown at this point.
