Honda and Acura have announced that starting this spring, their electric vehicles (EVs) will gain access to Tesla’s expansive Supercharger network.
The announcement was included in Honda’s Business Outlook for 2025.
“Honda continues to be proactive in supporting charging infrastructure to spur customer adoption of electric vehicles with Honda and Acura EV owners expected to get access to the Tesla Supercharger network starting this Spring with the availability of adaptors to customers.”
The integration of Honda and Acura vehicles into Tesla’s Supercharger network is expected to significantly improve the charging experience for their customers. Through the use of certified North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters, these drivers will be able to access over 20,000 Superchargers across Canada and the US.
Charging sessions will be managed seamlessly via the HondaLink and Acura EV apps, allowing users to locate stations, manage charging sessions, and make payments without the need for additional platforms.
Initially, Honda and Acura EVs, such as the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX, will require adapters to connect to Tesla Superchargers, as these models currently use the Combined Charging System (CCS). However, Honda plans to equip its new EV models with built-in NACS ports starting later in 2025, eliminating the need for adapters altogether.
Honda and Acura are among a long list of automakers that are expecting to get access to Tesla’s Supercharger network soon. This week Tesla updated their website to say BMW, Genesis, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Kia, Lucid, and Mercedes-Benz. Interestingly, Honda and Acura are not included in that list.
