Through a funding grant from Natural Resources Canada (NRC), residents of Guelph will see 20 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations built in their city.
The Federal government will provide $100,000 to cover the installation of the chargers through its Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program. The program targets to have 100% of passenger car sales be electric by 2040.
The City of Guelph will be contributing an additional $100,000, bringing the total project cost to $320,000.
“Electric vehicles are part of Canada’s net-zero future. Our federal government is working with the City of Guelph to give Canadians greener options to get where they need to go,” said Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Seamus O’Regan.
The Government of Canada has already provided over $300 million to help create a coast-to-coast fast charger network.
