After first announcing the return of the iconic Hummer as an electric vehicle during Super Bowl LIV, General Motors (GM) will officially unveil the EV during game one of the World Series.
GM announced yesterday they have purchased airtime for the big game on October 20 to showcase their new electric truck. The unveiling will also occur simultaneously on various social media platforms at 8:00pm ET, including their YouTube channel.
“We cannot wait to finally reveal the GMC HUMMER EV. We are leaving no stone unturned on reveal day,” said Phil Brook, vice president of GMC marketing. “In terms of audience reach, we anticipate this will be one of the brand’s most ambitious stand-alone campaigns ever.”
After the unveiling customers will be able to reserve their Hummer EV on GM’s website. The electric truck is not slated to begin production until late 2021. When it does arrive, it will have an estimated 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60mph time of 3 seconds, making it a serious Cybertruck contender.
The automaker has been revealing small pieces of information about the Hummer EV since it was announced earlier this year. The most recent was a teaser video of a new feature called ‘Crab Mode’. When activated, all four wheels on the truck turn at the same time allowing you to drive diagonally just like, you guessed it, a crab.
To go along with the announcement yesterday, a new video was also released on their YouTube channel, but it unfortunately doesn’t reveal any new information about the Hummer EV. Check it out below.
