Ford is on track to produce 150 thousand F-150 Lightnings this year

Ford announced it is on track to reach its 150,000 truck production goal for the Ford F-150 Lightning.

Per The Detroit News, the company is focusing on XLT trim customers. With the increase in XLT production, customers who order a Lightning XLT today will receive their truck in September.

Ford is still accepting orders for the XLT, Lariat and Platinum models but has sold out the entry-level Pro model for 2023.

Ford’s Model E chief customer officer, Marin Gjaja, had this to say about production:

Customer interest for XLT has considerably outstripped supply since the F-150 Lightning launch and we’ve worked with our suppliers to help address that. We heard loud and clear from our customers that they want their truck deliveries as close as possible to their orders. As we scale production, we are making this possible.

This is great news for Ford customers as there was some concern after production was shut down for a month after a fire at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. The fire did slow down orders, but Ford has since caught up and is back on track.

Ford is also increasing production of the Ford Mustang Mach-E in Mexico. The steady ramp-up has been going well, and Ford’s goal for the plant is to hit 130,000 Mach-E’s produced by the end of the year.
