Faraday Future partners with South Korea’s Myoung Shin for FF 81 production

Faraday Future is one step closer to bringing their mass-market electric vehicle (EV), known as the FF 81, to production.

The California-based EV startup has announced a new partnership with Myoung Shin Co., Ltd. to build the FF 81 at the automotive manufacturer’s facility in Gunsan, just outside of Seoul, South Korea.

Faraday plans to bring the FF 81 to production in 2024.

“We are delighted to have a partner of the quality and reputation of Myoung Shin,” said Carsten Breitfeld, Global CEO of Faraday Future. “This agreement to produce the FF 81 puts us on track to deliver on our promise to reach high volume production in 2024, the most important milestone on our path to profitability.”

The announcement comes even though Faraday Future has yet to release their first EV, the FF 91, which it says will start production in the third quarter of this year.

“Our own third quarter launch of the FF 91 will redefine the state of the art in the luxury EV segment, and with Myoung Shin, the FF 81 will bring our market-leading technology to the mainstream luxury segment,” Breitfeld added.

The FF 91 is a luxury electric SUV that was first slated to hit the market in late 2020. If it makes it to market as planned, the FF 91 will boast 3 electric motors, giving it 1,050 horsepower with a 0-60 time of 2.39 secs.

It will feature a battery capable of providing over 300 miles in estimated range.
