Dodge drops Canada-made Charger Daytona R/T for 2026, delays four-door variant

Dodge’s all-electric muscle car has hit a couple of roadblocks, one in the form of tariffs, and the other in form of a production delay.

The Michigan-based automaker confirmed it is dropping the entry-level Charger Daytona R/T trim, which is built at the Stellantis Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario, from its 2026 lineup, citing new U.S. tariffs on Canadian-made vehicles as a key factor.

The Charger Daytona R/T has struggled to find its footing. Despite aggressive incentives and promotional lease deals, sales never matched expectations. Reports indicate over 3,500 R/T units are still sitting on U.S. dealer lots unsold, a troubling sign for a model that was supposed to usher Dodge into the electric era.

Now, Dodge is shifting its focus to the higher-performance, higher-margin Charger Daytona Scat Pack. Producing 670 horsepower, the Scat Pack will now be the only version of the electric Charger Daytona available for 2026. And while the Scat Pack starts at a significantly higher price—around C$90,000 —it avoids the overlap with more affordable and better-performing EVs from competitors like Tesla and Lucid.

Adding to the shakeup, Dodge has also confirmed that the four-door variant of the Charger Daytona EV will be delayed. Initially set for release in early 2025, the sedan will now launch in the second half of the year, as a 2026 model.

When it does arrive, the four-door Scat Pack will offer the same power and styling as the coupe, but with added practicality and cargo space—up to 1,090 litres with the rear seats folded. Both body styles will also feature a new Track Package, upgraded brakes, adaptive suspension, and new design accents, including dual Fratzog stripes and an available gloss black hood.
