Amazon and Delta Airlines have entered into a partnership to bring the former’s satellite internet network, Amazon Leo, to 500 Delta aircraft. The installation is expected to improve the in‑flight Wi‑Fi experience for passengers.

As part of its efforts to make flights more seamless for its clients, Delta is expanding its collaboration with Amazon to integrate Amazon Leo across 500 of its planes starting in 2028. Passengers can expect high-speed, low-latency internet during their flights courtesy of Amazon Leo.

According to the update on Delta’s website, activities such as streaming movies and TV shows, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and chatting will be faster with Amazon Leo.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed enthusiasm about the agreement. “This agreement gives us the fastest and most cost-effective technology available to better connect the world today, and it deepens our work with a global leader that shares our ambition to build what’s next — creating even stronger human connection for our people and our customers for years to come.”

Since 2023, Delta has offered free in‑flight Wi‑Fi to its SkyMiles loyalty members, a service sponsored by T‑Mobile. The airline has since expanded this connectivity to more than 1,150 aircraft, serving over 163 million SkyMiles members.

Amazon President and CEO Andy Jassy shared confidence in the partnership. “We’ve designed Leo to provide high-speed internet to the billions of people on Earth without reliable connectivity, and this agreement with Delta is a great example of the impact and scale of the technology — bringing even faster in-flight Wi-Fi to tens of millions of passengers who fly Delta every year.”

More companies in the aviation industry are exploring ways to improve in-flight connectivity. American Airlines is reportedly weighing its options between Amazon’s Leo and the competing satellite internet provider, Starlink.
