City of Brampton breaks ground on first all-electric fire station

The City of Brampton in Ontario has broken ground on its first-ever all-electric fire station.

Station 215 will have a fully electric infrastructure and support an EV pumper truck. If construction proceeds as planned, the new fire station is expected to open in Fall 2026.

In addition to the truck, the eco-efficient design of the station will feature a green roof, an extra bay, a hose tower, energy-efficient HVAC equipment and rooftop solar panels.

The city’s move to invest in EV infrastructure and a new fire station was aimed at ensuring the growing city continued to have access to emergency services. Once operational, the City of Brampton anticipates emergency response times in the area will drop by 33% thanks to the new station.

In a news release, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown had this to say about the new fire station

By building a fully electric fire station equipped with solar panels, green infrastructure and electric fire trucks, we will be able to respond faster to emergencies and reduce emissions to build a more sustainable city for future generations.

Brampton purchased its first electric fire truck back in 2023, when it purchased a Rosenbauer RTX pumper truck. At the time, the city had ordered two more, and one will most likely end up calling Station 215 home by next year.
